Dresden Striezelmarkt Christmas Market
The oldest Christmas market in Germany takes its name from the delicious Dresden Christstollen cake, which was originally called a "striezel". On the day of the Stollen Festival a four-metre-long Christstollen leads the festive procession of the Bakers' Guild. Dates: December
Further Christmas Markets in and around Dresden
Besides the famous Striezelmarkt Dresden and its surroundings offer a great variety of traditional and very individual Christmas Markets such as the Medieval Christmas Market in the courtyard of the Royal Palace or Christmas Markets in the different historical village centres of Dresden.
The Erzgebirge Mountains, which are called the Christmas Land due to the famous wooden Christmas decoration that is manufactured there, is situated only 80 km from Dresden. A visit to the toy workshops, museums and Christmas Markets is a unique highlight during Christmas time.

Hanse Marathon in Hamburg
The marathon is divided in 3 different races. Wheelchair riders, skaters and runners have their own race in each case. The first starts at 8:30 am in the Karolinenstrasse. An After Marathon Party will begin after the race at 2:00 pm at Café Seeterrassen (located in the park Planten un Blomen). Date: End of April.
ATP Champions Race
The german tennis-Mekka is situated in Hamburg-Rothenbaum. Last year at the ATP Champions Race tennismatches of the top class, an entertaining frame program and culinary deliciousness enticed 150.000 spectators to the construction at the "Rothenbaum". Date: End of April / Beginning of May.
International Horse Jumping Derby Hamburg
This show jumping course at the derby grounds at Hamburg Klein-Flottbek is the most difficult of the world. During the show jumping competition the best jumping horseman of the world try their best to get the Blue Riband. Date: Beginning of May.
Birthday celebration of the port of Hamburg
The Port of Hamburg birthday celebrations are a really star event with the legendary large sailing ships, the attractions of the port promenade, the rock bands on music stages and the port birthday "classics", such as the tug ballet and port detective story. Date: Mid of May.
Long night of the museums
31 museums will be open until midnight and beyond. It will be offered culinary highlights, music, dance and events. A bus shuttles service will bring the people to the museums. Date: Mid of May.
Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival
This festival is celebrated with Japanese fireworks on the outer Alster Lake and the election of the new Cherry Blossom Princess. Date: End of May.
Christopher Street Day Hamburg
The world wide holiday of the Gay and Lesbian Community is celebrated in Hamburg with a fair by the river Elbe at Landungsbrücken, a big parade through the city centre and closes with a Pride Party. Date: Beginning of June.
Schlagermove - The Carnival of the North
Three days of entertainment and the biggest parade in the history of German pop music. A colourful pageant and a hip mega party.Date: Beginning of June.
Cabaret Festival
The Cabaret Festival is a joint venture of Hamburger Kammerspiele, the theatres Fliegende Bauten, Schmidts Tivoli and St. Pauli Theatre. This joint venture guarantees a light entertainment program with high quality. Date: June.
BMW Derby Meeting at the racetrack in Hamburg-Horn
The Hamburger Racing-Club invites to the big Gallop Derby in Hamburg which is sponsored by the Bayrischen Motorenwerke. It is a traditional German Derby, established in 1869. Date: End of June - Beginning of July.
The Hamburger Jedermann
The Hamburger Jedermann is a spectacular open-air theatre experience in the heart of the historic warehouse city. The actors are performing the tragedy of Hugo von Hofmannsthal about a rich man who makes a pact with the devil. Date: Beginning of July - Mid of August.
JazzPort Hamburg Festival
A Jazz Festival with international high-calibre musicians and a new location at the HafenCity, directly at the harbour. Every year the organizers try hard to create a exclusive program. Musicians as Ben Harper, Morcheeba and Robert Cray have already played at this festival. Date: July.
Schleswig Holstein Music Festival
With a total of some 130 concerts, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival is one of Europe's biggest music festivals. Each year, the festival programme focuses on a particular country. The international Orchestral Academy of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival enjoys a superb reputation world-wide and it forms the centrepiece of the great classical music festival held in the north of Germany. Date: Beginning of July - End of August.
"Fleetinsel"-Festival
This festival is in the city centre surrounded by canals. Hamburg has more canals than Venice. Comedy, artistic, street theatre and music like Jazz, World-Music, Bossa Nova, Blues and Classic are to discover. Date: Mid of July.
"Alstervergnügen"
From the city hall around the "Binnenalster" you can find music, theatre, songs, dance, sport and culinary consumption. Over 800 artists present their music. Dates: End of August.
HEW Cyclassics in Hamburg
The HEW-Cyclassics are a worldcup-race in Hamburg. It is not a race only for professionals, it is cycling for everyone. Last year over 10.000 participants started by the HEW-Cyclassics. and 9.895 finished the race. Date: Mid of August
Traveufer Festival Lübeck
Every year the "Traveufer" changes into a tremendous festival ground. Between Music and Congress Centre and Senator Hotel you can find a lot of art, culture and culinary consumption. Date: Mid of August.

Rightly described as Northern Europe's biggest fun fair, Hamburg's Dom offers high spirits, light-hearted fun and exciting entertainment which characterize the atmosphere along three kilometres of colourful stands, nostalgic merry-go-rounds or hightech fairground rides and shows. Dates: Spring, Summer and Winter
Christmas fair in Hamburg
Many historic stands and tents will offer sweetness, gingerbread, almonds, milled wine and other things. Attractions will be a 70 years old merry-go-around, a very old mirror palace and an old café from Vienna, which are normally exhibited in a circus museum. Date: December.
Traditional Christmas Fair in Lübeck
The Christmas Fair or Market has a long tradition, being first mentioned 350 years ago. A very special occasion is the Christmas fair in the Heiligen-Geist-Hospital where craftsmen are esta-blished in booth. Also a special attraction is the traditional fairyland next to the Marien-kirche. There are over 20 handmade fairyland stands with pupppets like Rapunzel, Snow White and the seven dwarfs in it. Date: December.

TSAR’S BALL NEW YEAR’S EVE
Saint-Petersburg, Catherine’s Palace
The Tsar’s Ball has been successfully organised annually since 1994 by DSR/Baltic Travel Company – the destination management company in Russia in cooperation with one of the most prestigious French Catering Companies Potel & Chabot. The Ball takes place in the magnificent Catherine Palace in Tsarskoe Selo on the 31st of December, 2011.
The main out-lines of scenario are the same each year, but the artistic performances, gala dinner menu and highlights are unique. Guests’ approach to the illuminated Palace walking through the park on a red carpet with lit candles on both sides of the carpet especially laid out for the occasion. The procession follows through the suite of beautiful baroque rooms and reaches the Grand Staircase where the cocktail is served. During the dinner serenaded by the Chambre Orchestra the guests will enjoy world famous Ballet and Opera sequences performed by the soloists from Mariinsky theatre and Russian and Cossack show. Midnight is celebrated by a Bell concert and fireworks in the park.
