Penha Longa and Golf Resort traces it origins back to the 14th century and includes a landmark monastery that was built on the site. Over the centuries Penha Longa became a retreat for The Royal Family of Portugal and visiting dignitaries. The design of the classic room resort blends local architecture with a graceful palazzo-style estate, in a setting of spectacular rolling hills, lush gardens and clear lakes.

Penha Longa  has  a fabulous eighteen hole course  designed by Robert Trent Jr. II. with an excellent level of maintenance and beautiful panoramic views over the Sintra mountain range. In 1994 and 1995 it was the location for the Portuguese Open Championship.
