Destination
ABU DHABI A GROWING DESTINATION
Abu Dhabi, "Father of the Gazelle", is the name of both the capital city of the United Arab Emirates and the largest of the seven individual emirates that make up the Country.
The Emirate was little known as a tourist destination until the discovery of oil that financed its major development program. Although, Abu Dhabi has long been a transit hub for people traveling between Europe and the Far East, it is only today that the city has become a magical destination in its own right, providing visitors from across the globe with unique experiences.
Abu Dhabi, the thriving, exciting metropolitan capital of the United Arab Emirates beckons visitors into its melting pot of international cultures, styles and traditions.
Here, contemporary styles successfully combine with traditional Arab values in a curious harmony that is reflected in the variety of sights and experiences this interesting city has to offer. Discover the wealth of ancient Arab culture and heritage, romantic dhow cruises and mystical dune dinners set out under a canopy of stars. You can do a range of special activities, from golf to camel and horse racing.

Additional Ideas
Islands: Lulu, Saadiyat, Yas Island, Sir Bani yas, Dalma, etc..
Unknown to most the Abu Dhabi emirate is archipelagic, where nearly 200 islands are strewn along its coast. This means island-hopping is a popular pastime among affluent residents who have boats and even for non-boat owners, where public transportation is available. Private tour operators likewise offer similar island-hopping services. Since some islands are presently undergoing major development, access may be limited for sometime.
Al Ain National Museum
The Al Ain Museum provides an accurate and beautiful montage of the ancestry, heritage and culture of the people in Abu Dhabi. The museum has two main sections: archaeology and ethnography, plus a third section where visitors can purchase gifts.
Equestrian Riding
Abu Dhabi locals, particularly the ruling family and the sheikhs, have a long and passionate relationship with the stunning Arabian horse. The ancient Arabian horses were remarkably trained by their Bedouin masters as war horses due to their intelligence and outstanding stamina, while at the same time possessing an undisputed reputation for beauty and gentle demeanour towards people. A visit to the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club at the Mushrif area (near the Al Mushrif Palace), about 10 minutes from Abu Dhabi city centre, gives visitors a glimpse of the outstanding role played by horses in the local heritage and sporting culture.
Falcon Hospital
The Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital, the largest falcon hospital in the world is dedicated for the highest standard of comprehensive treatment and care of falcons and other raptors with over 4400 patients per year. You will visit to our unique falconry museum where you get a deep insight in the traditional heritage of falconry with displays of special tools and equipment.
Helicopter discovery of Abu Dhabi
See Abu Dhabi as you've never seen it before! Be astounded by the towering buildings and the cityscape of one of the fastest developing city in the world. With the large windows of the chopper, the ability to hover and fly slowly around points of particular interest, will give you an amazing new perspective on the towns you thought you already saw so well.
Shopping Delight in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi is a blend of the new and the old. This is true not just of the city, its architecture, its attitude and customs but also of its shopping. Here you will find a mix of the snazziest shopping malls and the wonderfully quaint traditional markets or "Souks".
Boating & Game Fishing
If you are up to the challenge of tangling with some of the world’s most fierce fish, this is the sport for you. The Abu Dhabi coast is rich in marine life including Marlin, Sailfish, Yellow fin Tuna and Dorado provide exciting drama as they fight your line on the high seas.
Diving & Snorkelling
UAE is the place for divers and snorkellers. The ocean is full of treasures to be discovered. You will depart in small groups of 4-6 to board small boats that will take you from one creek to the other allowing you to practice your favorite sport!
Golfing on sand
Experience golf like never before in Abu Dhabi. The Al Ghazal Club, home to one of the best sand courses in the world. The 18 hole Al Ghazal Golf course, which opened in 1997, measures 6711 yards of the white tees, with a par 71 and presents an exciting challenge to the novice and the experienced golfer. Instead of greens there are browns!
Future Abu Dhabi
The city is focusing on green spaces, quality surroundings, and is building now exceptional developments such as:
- Saadiyat Island with the LOUVRE museum & Guggenheim.
- The YAS Island with the Ferrari Theme park.
- The Reem Island development with a great business community.
- The Raha Beach development with a top class city surrounding.
- And many other projects to form one of the largest project in the world besides Dubai!
Go over the top
Take a trip to the emirate’s highest point, Jebel Hafeet, or better yet stay overnight in one of the scenic hotels located near the mountain’s peak. Ideal time to visit this site is during the cooler months (November to March) where the temperature could drop dramatically, especially during the evenings. A lovely view of the city below is an added bonus for the visitor and provides a great photographic backdrop for your visit. Jebel Hafeet, which is located in Al Ain, is about half an hour drive from Abu Dhabi’s city centre.
Go for gold
What’s a trip to Abu Dhabi without shopping for some real souvenir items? The kind that could outlast your stock dividends and make you look good at the same time? Head to the Madinat Zayed Gold Souk before you head back to the airport to bag reasonably priced pieces of jewelery for yourself or your loved ones back home. Price haggling, however, is an art you must learn before setting off for this trip. Usually you can bargain for as much as half of the originally quoted price, especially if you are purchasing more than one piece of gold jewelery from the same store. Once a price has been verbally agreed on, however, the buyer is expected to make a purchase. The Madinat Zayed Gold Souk is a stone’s throw away from the Madinat Zayed Shopping Centre and the Abu Dhabi Central Post Office.
Red-carpet welcome
Admittedly carpets add an unexplained charm to one’s living room or bedroom. The Iranian Souk and Al Meena Souk boast some of the widest collection of the renowned hand-made Persian carpets in Abu Dhabi. Again, some excellent price haggling skills should be kept handy during such trips.
Nightlife
Notwithstanding its cosmopolitan, multicultural nature and business orientation, Abu Dhabi city retains much of the quite charm that characterizes a typical Arabic city at night. Nightlife in Abu Dhabi can be as quiet and refreshing as a stroll by the corniche or in a park in the cooler seasons or as active as watching a rock band performance in a pub or dancing in a night club in one of Abu Dhabi’s five or four-star hotels. Between the two extremes, nightlife in Abu Dhabi has much to offer to all age groups, tastes and interests – families and single visitors alike. An evening out can be a culinary treat from a wide range of oriental and international cuisines, a cultural event such as a play, a lecture, a concert or an art exhibition, or it can simply be a show at a movie theatre or an evening at gaming centre or an Arabic coffee shop where the traditional shisha (hookah or hubbly-bubbly) is served. Shopping malls, which remain open till 10:00 or 11:00 at night, are a main attraction for many of Abu Dhabi residents and visitors, not only for the rich shopping experience – or the equally exciting window-shopping – but for the variety of outlets and services grouped in these malls.
Natural Reserves
Sir Bani Yas Island houses captive breeding facilities for UAE’s indigenous fauna and other desert animals. Visits are allowed on prearranged basis only. For those who wish to book excursions or overnight stays can do so from Danat Resort Jebel Dhanna. This is located 240km west of Abu Dhabi, nine kilometres off Jebel Dhanna headland
Bird Watching
Eco-tourism in Abu Dhabi is expected to grow exponentially in coming years, as more attention is given to this high potential industry. Abu Dhabi and the rest of the United Arab Emirates have been particularly acknowledged as one of the top four destinations in the whole Middle East for bird-watching tours. Birdwatchers can chance upon the largest collection of birds the region has to offer during the migration seasons. Abu Dhabi is permanent home to over 80 species which bread in a landscape that ranges from sand dunes to oases, and mountains to wadis and pockets of wetlands.
Theme Party Ideas for Incentives
Midnight Desert Party
Drive to the outskirts of the desert by our exclusive 4x4 desert extreme jeeps. You will then be escorted on camel backs to a 'Bedouin Camp' located in the desert where the amazing sights of the moon valley and typical Bedouin hospitality greet you. Surrounded by folklore displays, the atmosphere in the desert forms a perfect start to your 1001 Arabian Nights experience! The henna tattoo artist who skillfully tattoos traditional designs, the traditional Arabic music and attire which will be given to you at the camp will transport you to a hospitality-filled village area bustling with life and excitement.
The tent will be decorated with traditional Persian rugs and lanterns. Waiters, disguised as members of the Bedouin clan, will usher guests to the low tables and seat them on richly embroidered Arabian style cushions. The tables will be decorated with reddish-brown table-cloth, oil lamps and a hubble-bubble.
