ATLANTA – HOME OF THE 1996 OLYMPICS
Atlanta has developed the reputation as the "hot spot" of the South, USA. It is a vibrant modern city in which tradition and the exotic life of the old, "Gone With The Wind" South fuses with incredible modern architecture and high technology. Atlanta has been called "a city in the park" because of the vast trees and flowers blanketing the entire city. Several large lakes and mountains add to its beauty.
Atlanta is the home of CNN, Coca-Cola, Delta Airlines, IBM and many other international corporations. Our airport is the largest in the world. Four large major universities (Emory, Georgia Tech, Atlanta University and Georgia State University) and several colleges grace the city.
From the Old World plantations and the Civil War historical attractions, to trendy restaurants and busy nightlife, to sailing and mountain hiking, the city offers a tremendous diversity. Visitors to Atlanta’s many theatres, museums, galleries and concert halls can experience diverse art, drama, dance and music. Atlanta is blessed with a mild climate and Southern hospitality, making it enjoyable for visitors year round.
