Destination
NEW YORK, A SMALL BITE OF THE BIG APPLE
New York is beyond doubt one of the most exciting cities in the world. Whatever your image of the Big Apple, it is bound to be right, for New York is the pulse of America. It is a thriving city where almost everything is possible and where anything goes.
The pace of life is frantic and the constant energy of the New Yorkers themselves will leave you breathless. The scale of New York is hard to take for a first time visitor - there are over 120 museums, 400 theatres, 25,000 restaurants and 18 miles of beach!
Every visitor must pack into a stay as much as possible and no matter what, must take a ride in one of the famous yellow taxis, see the familiar sights of TV and cinema - Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park and of course stroll down Broadway and Fifth Ave.
Example Programme
THURSDAY
Arrive at Airport Meet and Greet transfer to the hotel of your choice to refresh and relax before a stroll to your chosen restaurant for dinner.
FRIDAY
Day begins with "Wall Street Breakfast" at historic Fraunces Tavern, near the Stock Exchange. The rest of your tour of Mid and Downtown with guide(s) can be undertaken with small groups using taxis, buses and subways We suggest ending the tour at South Street Seaport where your group is free to enjoy one of the many excellent fast-food outlets for lunch and an afternoon at leisure exploring this fascinating insight into New York's past .
Dinner cruise around the tip of Manhattan with views of the magnificent skyline and the Statue of Liberty aboard a 1930's vintage yacht, or, dancing on one of World yacht's luxury dinner boats.
SATURDAY
Day Free for shopping and exploring the 'Big Apple'.
Tonight's entertainment is at the Broadway Theatre followed by dinner, then maybe on to enjoy the city's nightlife at many of the great clubs and bars covering a musical range from Jazz, Blues and Rock.
SUNDAY
Breakfast at hotel followed by a visit to Harlem for a Gospel and Spiritual Tour giving a fascinating glimpse of 'the other side' of life in New York, including the experience of a real 'Gospel Mass', then on to lunch at Central Park South for a last taste of superb all American food before transferring to the airport for the flight home.
Suggested Sightseeing
MIDTOWN AND DOWNTOWN
Beginning with a trip to the financial District, a stop at New York Stock Exchange (if desired), SoHo, Chinatown, Greenwich Village, the Garment District, Broadway, Rockefeller Centre and St. Patrick's Cathedral. A group can divide into 10's, each with a guide for a tour around town on subways and city buses.
UPTOWN TOUR
Central Park South, Lincoln Centre, Central Park, including Strawberry Fields, Harlem, Upper Fifth Avenue (Museum Mile).
CIRCLE LINE CRUISE
In addition to the traditional 3 hour cruise the new semi-circle cruise makes an ideal short ride around the tip of Manhattan. Departing from South Street Seaport, it is possible to take an excellent box lunch aboard & arrange an open bar during the 60-minute trip.
LIBERTY HELICOPTERS
Absolutely breathtaking, circle the head of the Statue of Liberty, swoop over New York Harbour and the canyons of Wall Street, Chrysler and Empire State buildings. Liberty, priced slightly higher than the competition but in our opinion more exhilarating. They use new five or six passenger equipment with earphones for the pilot's commentary.
In addition to standard and luxury coaches, 33 passenger trolleys and 71 passenger double-deckers are also available for transfer and tours.
