Example Programme

Day 1 - Lima

Upon arrival at the airport in Lima, reception and transfer to your hotel.

Lunch at Brujas de Cachiche Restaurant, followed by a tour of Lima. You will be driven to the Plaza de Armas to view the Government Palace, the Cathedral, the Archbishop’s Palace and the City Hall. Then you will visit the XVII century church and cloister of San Francisco, a world cultural heritage. The tour continues to the modern residential suburb of San Isidro where you will visit the Huaca Huallamarca, a pre-Inca adobe pyramid and downtown Miraflores to the Park of Love with a splendid view of the Pacific Ocean.

Dinner at Rosa Nautica.

Overnight.

Day 2 - Lima - Cuzco

After breakfast, an early morning transfer to the airport to board your flight to Cuzco. Upon arrival, reception and transfer to the your hotel.

Rest of the morning at leisure to rest and get used to the altitude.

Lunch at the hotel.

Early afternoon tour of this amazing colonial city built on the foundations of Inca Palaces. You will visit the Koricancha or Temple of the Sun where you can appreciate the incredible masonry of the Incas, the Plaza de Armas, and the Cathedral with its carved woodwork, altars and paintings. Continue on to the Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman, to the underground cave and temple of Kenko, the ruins of Puca-Pucara and to Tambomachay, known as the Bath of the Incas.

Dinner at hotel and overnight.

Day 3 -Cuzco - Ollantaytambo

After breakfast you will be driven through a scenic landscape to the Urubamba Valley, the "Sacred Valley of the Incas". Arriving at the town of Pisac, an hour’s drive from Cuzco, you will visit the colourful Pisac market where the local Indians meet to sell their merchandise as they have done for centuries. There is also a handicraft market.. After a buffet lunch, the tour continues to the town of Ollantaytambo from where you will climb up to its imposing Inca fortress at the top of the mountain.

Dinner/Folkloric Show at the hotel.

Overnight at the Posada del Inca Yucay.

Day 4 - Machu Picchu - Cuzco

After breakfast, transfer to Ollanta station to board your train to Puente Ruinas Station in Machu Picchu from where you will be transported by bus to the top of the mountain and to the citadel of Machu Picchu, one of the most renowned examples of Inca architecture, surrounded by lush cloud forest. Lost in history, it was not discovered until 1911 by the American explorer, Hiram Bingham. After a guided tour of the ruins, you will have a self service lunch at the hotel nearby before your departure back to Cuzco.

Inca dinner at the Monasterio Hotel, and overnight.

Day 5 - Cuzco - Lima

After breakfast, transfer to the airport to board your flight to Lima.

Reception and transfer to your hotel.

Lunch at Pabellon de Caza Restaurant.

Afternoon visit to one of Peru’s largest private collections belonging to Miguel Mujica Gallo, the Gold Museum, which displays countless superb examples of pre-Hispanic gold, silver and copper necklaces, bracelets, rings, masks, vases, erotic pottery and many others. There is also a fine collection of textiles and a remarkable collection of arms.

Farewell theme dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 6 - Lima
Breakfast. At due time, transfer to the airport for onward flight or flight home.

City Tour
The city tour includes the main points of interest of the city: the Plaza de Armas in the historic centre of town with the Presidential Palace, Cathedral which was built in 1625, and the Bishop’s Palace; also included are visits to some of the very attractive small 16th and 17th century churches in the same area, the Gold Museum, the modern residential areas of Lima such as San Isidro and Miraflores, and the golden beaches of Lima.

Museums Tour to include:
The Larco Herrera Museum, situated in a beautiful 18th century house with luxuriant gardens and a collection of more than 45,000 pieces of pottery from pre-Hispanic civilisations, including Mochica and Chimu.

The Osma Museum which has a collection of paintings, furniture and sculptures from the 17th and 18th century.

Amano Museum, famous for the weavings of the Chancay culture and also ceramics and other pieces from this century.

Tour to Pachacamac
This is about 20 miles from Lima and when the Spaniards invaded Peru, this was the largest city and ceremonial centre of the Incas on the coast. It is a vast complex of Palaces and Temple pyramids and of great archaeological interest.

Markets tour
Tour to the many specialist handicraft markets in Lima for those who would like to buy textiles, ceramics and other typical items.

Other cities to visit in Peru:
Cuzco, Machu Picchu, Iquitos and the Amazon, Arequipa and the Colca Canyon, Trujillo, Chiclayo.
