SOUTH AFRICA - A GOLD MINE OF INCENTIVE POSSIBILITIES
Magnificent scenery. Unequalled hospitality. Superb food.  A climate second to none. Incredible buying power of the GB£ - South Africa is a country that redefines many of the superlatives often used to describe countries and attract visitors.

It has been called 'a World in One Country'... and for good reason. South Africa is a microcosm of the world at large. It has history and prehistory - to discover both of which is only a foretaste of the challenges of the future. It has nature and culture - and the quest for keeping a balance between the demands of both. It has museums - and spaces where humans have left hardly any mark. It has sophisticated cities abuzz with the latest international trends, technologies, and sleepy towns bathed in rural tranquillity within a few kilometres of one another. It has a veritable Babylonian confusion of tongues and yet communication is relatively easy, because English is spoken by most as a second language. Its cultural diversity will tease you out of all easy answers to the complexities that South Africans have to cope with.

It offers all kinds of cuisine; French, Italian, German, Chinese, Russian, Mongolian, Thai - and of course South African. Tasty home-cooking by itself presents a blend of many influences of the African tribes, Malay, Indian, Dutch, English and French varieties. But it also has fast foods! It has among the most celebrated wines in the world - and sorghum beer to be enjoyed in shebeens. It offers amazingly high standards for a country that is still developing.

For affordable holidays at extremely good value for money there is hardly any place in the world to beat it. It is there for you if you just want to be a 'beach bum', getting re-acquainted with the sun. It is the adventurer's dream. It is the place to come to if you are into Ecotourism with a capital E. Here too, as elsewhere in the world, nature is under extreme pressure. We need development, but we also need to preserve the delicate balance between man and environment. We would love you to explore our natural wonders, but we ask that you leave only footprints and do not disturb our sensitive ecosystems.

The Southern African sub-continent is incredibly diverse in its geography and culture and offers a multitude of different Incentive experiences and activities. The diversity ranges from the protected wildlife in the extensive game reserves in the north,to the renowned Garden Route in the south, and the arid semi-desert of the west to the lush sub-tropical east.

The incredible natural beauty of the country is combined with unforgettable experiences, which can include the breathtaking splendour of the Palace of the Lost City, an elegant cocktail party deep in the bush, with lions roaring in the darkness, a gourmet picnic overlooking the meeting of two oceans, or a night in a traditional Zulu hut. South Africa is a popular destination, which provides truly unforgettable incentive experiences to suit every possible taste and budget.

SAMPLE ITINERARY – 3 x NIGHTS AT CAPE TOWN

DAY ONE  - CAPE TOWN

Check-in at The Table Bay Hotel
Set on the historic waterfront, a hotel has been created that is not only a tribute to this world-amous bay, but which also sets its own standards in international service, cuisine and luxury.  The table bay hotel is magnificent, straddling the antique breakwater with a style that is both innovative and entirely in keeping with its surroundings. It is a contemporary architectural treasure. The rooms either overlook the bay to Robben Island, prison home of south africa’s former president nelson mandela for the greatest part of his 27 years of political incarceration, or across the harbour and the city to table mountain.  The hotel was opened with much fanfare in may 1997 by President Mandela.

Visit Table Mountain - one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World!
We drive along a scenic route towards the lower station to board the modern cable cars that whisk you up at 6 metres a second to the top of this fabulous mountain. The exhilarating ascent of Table Mountain, in a revolving cable car, is a must for any visitor and provides breathtaking views over the city and it’s beaches.  The panorama stretches from Table Bay to False Bay and around the mountain to the Hout Bay Valley and Kommetjie.

Welcome Cocktail Function in back courtyard / Pavillion at The Table Bay Hotel
The Pavilion is positioned on a piazza just outside the Table Bay’s imposing Ballroom, and shelters behind the historic breakwater wall a strong feature of the hotel’s northern façade.

DAY TWO - CAPE TOWN

Explore the "Grapes of the Cape"
Arrive at Zorgvliet Wine Estate

For the ultimate African experience, visit Zorgvliet - the destination of choice for the discerned traveller.  Start your magical journey at Zorgvliet Wine Farm in beautiful Banhoek Valley near Stellenbosch.  The historic Zorgvliet farm dates back to 1692 and nestled against the slopes of the breathtaking Helshoogte Pass, it offers visitors a glimpse into an unforgettable experience.

On arrival at Zorgvliet guests are lead to a private area to sample a few of the the Wine Estates Award Winning Wines. From there guests are given a detailed talk on the Wine Estate the Wines that they produce and how they produce it. Guests are then lead to the very quaint Herenhuis where lunch will be served.

"Breakfast Included" Jazz Band to entertain guests during Lunch
Breakfast Included are fast becoming Cape Towns most sought after ‘Function and Wedding Band’ –  adding that special something to the proceedings, when ‘style’, ‘visual impact’ and the ‘best in music’ is desired. The quartet has a huge repertoire ranging from all Jazz favourites to Latin, African and more contemporary fare, tailored to each particular event.  Breakfast Included performs as a quartet or a Quintet (addition of a great Female jazz vocalist).

Surprise Fun Bus transfer to Tonight's Dinner Venue
Guests are a bit surprised to see a real gaudy, basic "township" bus - awaiting them for their transfer.  This is a sign of "third world Africa" and no doubt they'll be a bit hesitant to board.  When they board the bus,  they see that there are already some local African people on the seats - one reading a paper, one listening to his CD player, one making a beaded bracelet, one sleeping etc.  Then, as the bus starts to move, these "locals" actually start singing and turn out to be a highly talented African male acapella singing group with rich, strong voices - who sing like the famous Ladysmith Black Mambazo.  So, the 10 minute transfer becomes a pre-dinner party - and the guests won't want to get off the bus they'll be having so much fun!

Dinner at the Africa Café
Take a journey through Africa from South to North. Chef Portia has assembled a host of dishes some learnt at her mothers side, others collected on her travels.  Whether they are finger foods hawked at a roadside in Malawi or a steaming plate served at a thatched kaya (village hut), all African meals are shared.  There are no starters or main courses.  Portia heaps your plate and heaps it again with a feast of dishes that celebrate our continent.  This is a meal which can be shared by all at your table, and you can eat as much as you like.  Enkosi - Enjoy!  The decor is traditional, colourful and ethnic (and the atmosphere is great fun!).  Food Consists of a Variety of Dishes from All Over the African Continent, Served as an Ongoing Feast for the Senses!

DAY THREE - LIVINGSTONE

Set against a backdrop of magnificent sea and mountain views, exciting shopping and entertainment venues are intermingled with imaginative office locations, world-class hotels and luxury apartments in the residential marina. We invite you to discover the experience... live, work, shop and play at the V&A Waterfront

Tour of the Winelands
The Cape is famous for its stunning Winelands scenery and world-class wines. Enjoy a tour of the area, taking the time to sample the delicious drops, whilst learning about the area’s rich history. There are many wineries, among them:

Seidelberg Wine Estate
This farm was established in 1680, granted by Simon van der Stel, as De Leuwen Jagt. The meaning of the original name in Dutch was "The lion hunt". It has recently been renamed Seidelberg after the new owner, Roland Seidel, who originates from Germany, as did the first owner back in 1680.  In the cellar, a harmonious marriage between centuries-old tradition and modern technology produces handcrafted wines for the most discerning wine lovers. Here, the cellarmaster practices his art with passion and dedication to produce wines of superior quality.  Elevated high on the Paarl Mountain, the farm has one of the most scenic and magnificent views of the Valley and Table Mountain. Wines can be tasted in the unique underground Wine Tasting Centre, which is combined with the Farm Deli and Restaurant.

Wine Tasting
Green Route would arrange for the owner of the wine farm, Mr Roland Seidel (subject to availability) to conduct a private wine tasting for the group. Guests get the opportunity to sample some of the Estate's top wines.  Approx. 5 different wines will be tasted.

Suggestion:
Wine Blending
The group gets divided into smaller groups and work together as a team to blend their own wine.  This is quite informal and a lot of fun as each team tries to come up with just the right amount of Merlot and add to that a dash or two of Pinotage, not forgetting some of the white wine varieties.  Each team submits their bottle and it is blind-tested by the entire group - so everyone gets to taste all of the wines that were blended.  They then vote for the best blend!

Glass Blowing Demonstration in the Red Hot Glass Studio
The renowned Red Hot Glass studio and gallery based on Seidelberg wine estate allows guests to observe Venetian-style glass blowing.  Artist Liz Lacey creates her stunning "glass art" in her on-site studio which can be viewed hrough a picture window.  Guests will also have the opportunity to browse the shop where they might purchase some of her unusual designs to take home!

Waterford Wine Estate

Waterford Estate is situated in one of the world's most visually arresting pockets of paradise. Nestled in the picturesque Blaauwklippen Valley, in the world-renowned Stellenbosch region, this 120-hectare property boasts ancient citrus groves, rolling lawns, water features and fragrant lavender beds.

The winery was designed by architect Alex Walker and created from quarried local bedrock, stones from the vineyard and timber grown on the estate. It was styled along the engaging terracotta design of the classic Bordeaux chateaus of France. The centre piece of the magnificent courtyard is the Waterford fountain. This feature has been immortalised in the Waterford label and represents a fundamental component of their philosophy.

Cellar tour and private wine tasting

The Waterford wine experience not only introduces their range of limited world class wines to visitors, it also reflects the ethos and passion of its owners, offering guests a chance to share in their unique lifestyle and discover the heart and soul of Waterford.

Visitors may choose from a range of experiences. The standard tasting covers the Waterford, Kevin Arnold and Pecan Stream wines. The wine and chocolate experience is a unique flavour experience with custom-made chocolates, paired with their red and dessert wines. The vintage tasting covers rare wines specially selected by Kevin Arnold.

Visit to Kayamandi Township
Kayamandi is located on the outskirts of Stellenbosch. Kayamandi, ironically a Xhosa term for “pleasurable home” was founded in the early 1950s as part of the increased segregation during the Apartheid regime. In 1966, the nine biggest employers in the Stellenbosch district (among them the University, the city administration, several vineyards and a fruit packing company) got together to erect 38 ready-made homes, so-called hostels. Kayamandi was originally built to house exclusively black migrant male labourers employed on the farms in the Stellenbosch area.

Visit to Robben Island
Very few places in the world exemplify and symbolize the struggle for freedom against oppression of basic human rights, as Robben Island does.  The power to eradicate apartheid was believed to have been strongly supported by the presence of this far away Prison Island.   Where many of the leading members of South African political parties and ANC members were incarcerated. Most famously, the former president Mr. Nelson Mandela. Learn from a former convict about what a term of “life” imprisonment meant.

Many other activities are available in Cape Town, including:

“Discover the Cape” Adventure Experience (team-building)

Please note that all rafting trips have videographers and cameramen taking footage throughout the day which can be ordered the same evening and will be delivered to the hotel the following morning.  Dare you trun adventurer on the mighty Zambezi??

Guests interact with 2 or 3 lion cubs for a period of approximately 1 and ½ hours. The lions roam free with guests in the African bush in the riverine vegetation and beautiful scenery situated on the banks of the Zambezi River. Guests may even be lucky enough to experience the young cubs on a stalk on some of the wildlife species that occur on the property.

The experience offers a once in a lifetime insight into the behaviour and social aspects of Africa’s most sought after photographic opportunity – The African Lion. No leashes, no collars – just a natural African wildlife experience.

Day Trip to the Chobe National Park – Botswana
Chobe National Park.....has the aura of the Africa of old. Vast landscapes, open plains, ancient woodlands and spectacular Baobab trees dominate the panorama. Here you'll find the very essence of nature in a 11 700 sq. km. pristine wilderness. Wildlife roams free in profusion and diversity. The elephant population, estimated at 35 000, is the largest single concentration in Africa within the confines of a single proclaimed national park. During the harsh dry season the herds migrate and congregate along the perennial Chobe River and fertile floodplains. The sight is spectacular - red sunsets, elephant and buffalo in their hundreds. Other species encountered within the park include lion, rhino, wild dog, sable, roan antelope, wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, leopard and bushbuck.

The transfer across to the Chobe National Park is approximately two hours including border formalities and a short river crossing.  Once at Mowana Safari Lodge, you will be given a choice of either safari drives in the Chobe National Park or safari cruise up the Chobe River, one can of alternate.  Between the two activities, lunch will be served at Mowana Safari Lodge.  The rate is inclusive of return hotel transfers, two safari activities, lunch exclusive of drinks at Mowana Safari Lodge, Chobe National Park entry fees and refreshments on safari activities and Victoria Falls - Botswana - Victoria Falls transfers.  Clients should be back at their respective hotels at 18.30 at the latest.

Creating that perfect winelands memory is easy at Seidelberg’s De Leuwen Jagt Restaurant. Internationally renowned chef Cass Abrahams will pamper your senses with the world of the Cape’s flavours in a setting with overwhelmingly beautiful views.

Cape Cuisine is a melange of richly satisfying, subtly spiced dishes which are now regarded as Cape Malay Cuisine. Defining its essence is hard to do, for the input of many of the people of the Cape played a part in the rich tapestry of the ingredients, cooking methods and spicing.

African Dinner at Moyos (Spier Wine Estate)
Under the starlight African sky, set in a garden in the Western Cape Winelands, Moyos at Stellenbosch is unlike any other restaurant. With a seating capacity of 1200, this indoor and outdoor African experience soon became a must on any Western Cape visit. Bedouin tents and Gazebos are placed throughout the garden and create an almost nomadic African Village.

Watching over this moyo Village is a 300 year old Oak Tree, a testament to Africa’s greatness.  Around this Gentle Giant, bedlike couches designed and crafted by moyo are placed in a 360 degree radius for the best views of the werf.  Growing from the earth, pulsating water features crafted from copper are living works of art and skillfully constructed tree houses raise from the ground and take to the tree tops – an unparalleled dining experience.

The buffet span is an incredible 25m. The flavor of freshly cooked potjies, tagines and grilled meats fills the air with aromas of cumin, paprika and rosemary….  The aim and design of the buffet is to create individual African gastronomic experiences, experimenting with the tastes and flavours of Africa.

A Magical “Black and White” Affair at the Castle of Good Hope
Guests are seated on transparent ‘Ghost’ chairs, around elegant square tables covered in luxurious black and white patterned damask. The table is laid with opulent cut crystal and glittering silverware, place settings are layered with white underplates, oversized white starched napkins and beautifully calligraphied menu cards.   Adding a splash of vibrant colour and whimsy to this monochromatic palette, , a black and white candy striped box brimming with blood red gerberas and roses takes centre stage. Frosted glasses with votive candles are placed at each setting, shedding a warm glow across the table. Giant cylindrical glass vases filled with red apples under crushed ice serve as champagne coolers placed on white plinths around the perimeter of the venue.   A white on white lounge area, piled high with plush velvet cushions, ottomans and sumptuous couches create a whimsical chill-out zone.  Absolute luxury, a magical affair…

“Mother City Funk” – Fire and Local Art Dinner

On arrival, a mesmerizing and exhilarating fire show sets the tone for this magnificent evening of “Fire and Art”.  Fire breathers exude plumes of flames whilst poi dancers twirl and spin, dazzling their guests as they ‘play with fire’. Waiters circulate with trays of fiery cocktails! Although this show is now over, another is about to begin…

Enter a white empty shell… Graffiti artists emerge and take to the ramps surrounding the venue. Within minutes, to the beat of the hip hop band, they put colour to canvas and writing to walls. The party begins, b-boys, artists and the band all coming together to create an eclectic evening of Cape Town street culture.

A giant 3m x 15m wall is built along the back wall of the venue. In the centre a gobo light reflects the outline of the company logo and guests will be given cans of spray paint to fill in the colour. On either side of the logo, legendry Cape Town Graffiti artists, Falko and Makone, express themselves on canvas showcasing the best of the best of this art movement, creating fine features of fire and art. To create a blank canvas the venue is white on white. White floors, white walls, white wooden plinths of varying sizes and heights serve as bars, cocktail tables, seats and stands for floral installation art.  White vinyl couches, coffee tables and ottomans create seating areas in the courtyard under a Bedouin tent. Fiery amber lighting highlights the artwork, artists and features in the venue creating a magical glow… Waiters serve substantial finger food and drinks to guests on lightboxes and trays lined with graffiti art.

“Cape Cool” – a Night at Café Du Cap
Guests will arrive and will be welcomed by a Red Carpet lit by candles and the vibrant sounds of the Cape Malays. Delicious champagne cocktails will be served on arrival, giving the guests the opportunity to enjoy a spectacular sunset from this exquisite location.
