A TOUCH OF AFRICA IN THE HEART OF THE MEDITERRANEAN
Just two and a half hours flying time from the UK, Tunisia is a small North African Country in the heart of the Mediterranean, which is blessed with a stunning coastline, gorgeous sandy beaches, an abundance of historical sites and the magic of the Sahara desert. Whether you choose to simply relax, visit the sites, enjoy water sports, play golf, tennis or bowl, Tunisia is a year-round Incentive destination with something for everyone.

A mix of African, Arabic and French cultures ensures that you are in for a real treat…and the locals are friendly and welcoming. Make Tunisia the country of your dreams and travel to one of the best value destinations in the Mediterranean…you won't regret it.

Faces of Tunisia
Just 77 miles south-west of Sicily is Tunisia - a country in which its reputation is more Mediterranean than African. The climate is mild, the trees are always green and the oranges ripen in sunshine throughout the year. Golden sandy beaches stretch for some 800 miles along Tunisia's Mediterranean coastline. The food, which has a distinctly French influence, is mixed with typical Tunisian specialities like Koucha Fil Kolla - fresh lamb sprinkled with rosemary and spices and baked in a clay pot. Locally produced wine is even admired by the French.

If history is your scene then visit one of 250 historic sites left behind by the Romans who occupied the country for 600 years. The Coliseum at El Djem is considered better preserved than that of in Rome and at Dougga or Sbeitla you can wander among villas, temples and amphitheatres surrounded by wild flowers and olive trees. Before the Romans, Tunisia was the birthplace of the Carthaginian Empire that included Spain. From there, Hannibal set out across the Alps with 59,000 men and 40 elephants to crush the Romans in an epic campaign. Unfortunately Rome took revenge in 149 BC, when Scipio left the city of Carthage in ruins, but the site is still worth a visit today.

There are stories that Tunisia's first tourist was Ulysses, who apparently could not bear to leave the island of Djerba and of Queen Dido and her love for Aeneas.

Cities of Tunisia

Tabarka:

Particular sign: triple alliance of the sea, the mountain and the forest.

The mountain is covered by a thick forest: oak, pinewood, birch, mimosas and drops down suddenly to the sea, ending with an elevated cliff where the erosion has sculpted spectacular forms: spurs with sharp ends and marvellous high peaks of beautiful yellow stones. These cliffs are limited and the largest part of surrounding area is made of large, white beaches dominated by beautiful dunes.

This is the site of Tabarka; the old Lapraca of the Pheniciens, which became a fair and an Oman establishment before the Byzantin era.

Tunis the Capital
Tunis is the Suburb of Carthage and started out as the Roman capital of the Hafside Empire and then became part of the Ottoman regency. Tunis is the capital of modern Tunisia and is the incarnation of its historical three time millenary. From the ancient city (Medina) to the ruins of Carthage, Tunis stretches to the Mediterranean Sea borders and offers to tourists the charm of its seaside suburbs. (Sidi Bou Said, Marsa and Gammarth).

Hammamet:
During the very ancient times, Hammamet was a lost village with its orchards on the calm seaside. Despite the three millennia of history of Tunisia, the city has not faced major disturbances and even became famous owing to a very rich Roman. Nowadays, HAMMAMET is one of the most famous seaside resorts in Tunisia and one of the best of the Mediterranean Sea.

Sousse & Port El Kantaoui:
Founded in the 9th century B.C, Sousse is the 3rd city in Tunisia after Tunis and Sfax. From its three thousand years of history it has a rich heritage, which it preserves within the fortified ramparts of the medina. The Big Mosque, the archaeological museum, The Ribat and the Catacombs were equally remarkable historic sites. Sousse is a Mediterranean city of typical beauty, which extends onto the most beautiful beaches of Tunisia, and across to the famous port-garden El Kantaoui.

Port El Kantaoui:
The most famous of the port-gardens of the Mediterranean is located a few kilometres away from Sousse. Its marina is built on the model of the famous Sidi Bou Said, with all the facilities it welcomes people coming from all around the world.

Monastir:

Located at the parting of maritime and land ways, Monastir was, from very ancient times, a flourishing destination. Dominated by the Phinicans, this city, is today a very beautiful seaside resort. The majesty of its historic sites, the beauty of its exotic beaches, its two golf fields and the comfort of its tourist facilities all help to charm its visitors.

Djerba:
Djerba was well known during the ancient times, since the era of the hero Homer and Ulysses stopped there during his trip. The area was first Carthaginian and then Roman with two Roman emperors being born here. The Island still conserves its beauties of the Roman era: Meninx, close to El Kantara, and the Roman pavement of 6 km, linking today the island to the continent.

Zarzis:
Facing the island of Djerba you can find the beautiful seaside resort of Zarzis.
Zarzis has a charming location surrounded by palm groves and olive trees. It was edified on the remains of the roman city of Elthe Gergis. It is also a port of coral sponge fishing. All along the arc of Zarzis to El Kantara (continent), the beaches are magnificently surrounded by rocky areas which make them very favourable to deep sea fishing.

Tunisian Sahara:

Tozeur
The pearl and the capital of the Djérid, is located at the heart of one of the most famous oasis in the world. It is the ancient Thusuros, one of the locations present on the roman way linking Biskra to Gabès. At the side of the oasis you can find the newest golf field of Tunisia.

Nefta
Nefta is the most charming oasis. It is the ancient Aggasel Nepte of the Romans. Destructed in the XIth century by the rulers of Tunis for refusing to pay taxes, the city of Nefta was renewed. It became a strong centre of Sufism, a mystic Islamic movement.

Douz

Douz is the last stage before the big Saharan adventure. At the edge of the big Erg, It is the open gate on the Sahara. Thus Douz is the start of the endless world. This absence of limits gives a great feeling of fulfilment. In this endless vastness, the infrequent human presence intensifies this feeling and it is a world of silence. It is possible to get caught up in the pure magic created between man and the desert.

Matmata
It is difficult to imagine a more spectacular site, a place where you can find more intense colours. Matmata is situated in a basin, scattered with countless, tiny hills. It is almost like being surrounded by lunar areas and bald mountains. From afar, the ground looks riddled with an endless number of craters and these are the Troglodytes houses.

KSAR GHILHENE
Ksar Ghitlene is an oasis irrigated by a thermal source. It is surrounded by the dunes of the Big Erg. This is the most Saharan of the Tunisian oasis and the gardens, where you find lots of tamarisk are beautiful.

THE WORLD OF KSOURS
If in Nefzaoua, you see fine, infinitely soft sand, here in the region of the Ksours, you will also find a world of stones. Here you are at every moment, exposed to a hard terrain, made of dry land and surrounded by mountains on which there are old Berber villages.

Archaeological and historical Sites

El Jem
El Jam (originally named Thysdrus) has peaked up in prosperity during the 3rd century, when it was the most flourishing city of Roman Africa. As a witness of a glorious past, the majestic amphitheatre is the setting for the annual international music festival of classical music. It's the third amphitheatre in the antic world (after that of Rome and that of Capoue), and the huge amphitheatre of El Jem has a capacity for 27.000 spectators. The historian Michel Zéraffa wrote: "Here, when a gladiator was hurt, the crowd cried stronger than in Rome".

The Bardo Museum
The ancient residence of the Beys (ruling Tunisia from 1705 to 1957), the palace of Bardo hosted from 1888 the archaeological Museum. This was the first mosaic museum in the world with a thousand masterpieces; the Bardo museum is unique with priceless value. The Hérmaïon d'El-Guandtar, a monument 40,000 years old is considered as one of the first religious expressions of humanity.

Carthage:

According to the ancient tales, Carthage was founded in 814 BC, by the Princess Elissa (Didon), sister of the king of Tyr, Pygmalion. Nowadays, we can admire the archaeological site of Carthage, the magnificent features of the Antonin Thermeas and those of the two Punic ports.

Sidi Bou Said:
Of the saint man, Sidi Bou Saïd is a village located on a cliff dominating Carthage and the gulf of Tunis, at the seaside. It was constructed around the marabou, where Sidi Bou Saïd is buried. The very white houses, with very special architecture are boarding the tortuous alleys. The nostalgic religious atmosphere in this village gives to the visitor the impression that he/she is in a place where time has stopped.

Medina Of Tunis
Constructed by the Arabs in 698, Tunes (Tunis) developed and flourished within its fortified ramparts. From the mid 19th century onwards the name 'Medina' means that of the ancient glorious city, on which time had no effect. You will be charmed by the exotic scents while walking within the Souk of perfumes and you will discover the marvels of the Souk of Chechias, the Souk of Jewellery and many others.

Dougga:
The steps go right up into the hills, facing a fixed scene that one can admire all day long and these are composed of columns separating the 3 access doors of the actors. We can, after pacing up and down the roads of the city, with their big pavements, try to read their enormous inscriptions engraved on blocks of stones laying here and there. Close to the forum, the Place of the Rose of Winds features, where there is a rose engraved on the ground with the names and directions of the wind. It is surmounted by the Capitola, which with its portico façade, is one of the most beautiful classical monuments of Dougga and a bit further along, the Temple of Cælestis, is hidden amongst the herbs. On its right, there is the Arc of Sévère Athexandre, looking like an amputated guardian, who has lost his superior arms.

Treasure hunt in the Mediterranean Medina and Carthage Land

The hunt is organised in the new Mediterranean Medina and Carthage land south of Hammamet.

Carthage Land is a unique world of many wonders and the first theme park established in Africa. It is adjacent to the Mediterranean Medina, a walled city similar to those from ancient times, and located in Yasmine Hammamet, Tunisia, just a short distance from the sea. Carthage Land offers an intense adventure due to its exceptional attractions.

In surroundings where the atmosphere of Ancient Carthage is recreated and in the middle of a peaceful and relaxing garden, discover and meet famous exceptional men including ancient warriors, such as Hannibal, Hannon and the Barbarous (Red Beard) brothers.

Go back in time to experience the Punic wars and the conquest of Rome with African elephants and take a journey through Africa and the adventures of a famous Tunisian pirate.

Experience all the periods of Tunisia's history, including the Carthaginians, the Romans, the Berbers and the Muslims.

The briefing of the hunt will be carried out by a professional guide who will explain the activity to the teams and give them clues about the site and the area.

During the hunt and in the area the participants can get help from representatives who will be present. We find it more interesting that they do the hunt themselves without guides, as it otherwise would be too easy. The activities included in the hunt include the treasure hunt in Carthage Land, mosaic workshop, painting workshop, oriental dance workshop and water pipe preparation workshop.

We can divide the group of participants into small teams. Each team will have a colour and be dressed so that it is easy to identify them. Each team will be given the first clue in order to send them in the right direction to start the hunt. Each team will also be invited to find each other's clues at different check-points on the site in order to be able to find the first part of the clues and obtain the manuscript.

Olympic Games
The magic of the Tunisian Sahara.

During your event, we propose different games and competitions to entertain your group.

Most of the activities are made to improve teambuilding in the company or just to enjoy activities in the magic world of the Star Wars site or in the sand dunes of the desert.

These activities can be put together as competitions or just to enjoy the wonders of the Tunisian Sahara. Different games and workshops are built around the event area, with a rotation system in order to give the feeling of direct competition between the teams.

Once the teams are set up, a guidebook will be given to each team leader in order to indicate the exact order of each activity and challenge. Teams will go through the different stands in direct confrontation with other teams.

I. First proposition for Olympic Games: Velocity and strength - can you keep your feet on the hot sand?

Camel ride to the camp
Can you imagine what we are preparing for you on the way to your Berber camp?

Last refuge of silence, in the middle of nowhere, the Sahara is considered an inaccessible place. We dream of it, but we do not believe that it really exists until we realise that we are right in front of it.

The Sahara is never the same - at each sunset it changes and each dune is different. Once you are in the desert, it is like visiting somebody with multiple faces. It is never the same face twice.

During your journey to your camp for dinner and overnight stay, you have ride across the sand dunes with 4x4 vehicles. Suddenly the cars brake down or are stuck in deep sand. You get off and wonder what is going on. (It is also possible to create a fake kidnapping of a person).

A camel caravan is approaching, and you have to negotiate with the Berbers to let you ride the camels in order to get to the camp.

Your group then rides for one hour through the sand dunes during the sunset. At the last turn, you will find the camp prepared for an unforgettable dinner under the stars.

Berber evening in sand dunes of Larigeutte
In front of you a Berber camp has been built especially for you: typical Berber tents, tables and all the equipment are already there.

In the middle of the camp a big fire is underway and mint tea is served on arrival.

All the surroundings of the camp are lit up with candles, torches and flames. You find millions of stars in the sky all around the camp and on the top of the sand dunes. It is possible to make a 3-star or even a 5-star dinner.

You will find a woman offering henna tattoos or cooking bread in a separate tents.

The entertainment is typical Tunisian Folklore with belly dancers and musicians will invite you to dance and enjoy an unforgettable evening in the middle of nowhere.

It is in one of the Marine temples for the body's reshaping in which the sea water presents its beneficial virtues. In its luxurious spa centres the most advanced technologies are utilised and are complemented nicely by the know-how and the experience of the staff acquired by the years.

Eden Tours invites you to discover the carefully selected centres and thus see another side of Tunisia; that of cure and relaxation.
