BULGARIA
Usually the beginning of June is the start of the
summer’s ancient festivities – the rituals cover almost the whole
territory of South East Bulgaria and represent an ancient
pagan performance, involving barefoot dancing on live embers inherited by the
Thracians* – bringing health, success and fertility throughout
the year. It is a unique mixture
of Christian beliefs.
